Ashok Sharma, the rising speedstar has been drafted into the India A squad as an injury replacement of Yudhvir Singh.
A day after Ashok switched his domestic state from Rajasthan to Gujarat, he was called up for the Tri-series in Sri Lanka
Ashok will take a flight to Colombo on Tuesday and will link up with the India A squad to feature in the tri-series.
Team India will face Afghanistan on the 17th of June, on Monday, in a must-win clash.
Ashok grabbed all the attention from the recently concluded Indian Premier League, where he bowled at a raw pace of above 150 kph.
Ashok claimed six wickets in as many matches and is highly rated in the Indian circuit
According to a report in TOI, Ashok’s ability to bowl at 150 kph while disguising a 115-kph slower delivery with the same action has impressed the Gujarat Titans and Indian captain Shubman Gill.
Youngster Ashok Sharma came into the spotlight when he broke 11 years old record and was the leading wicket taker of the tournament with 22 wickets.
Ashok was picked up by KKR in 2022 with a signing amount of 22 lakhs. Later released Ashok was a net bowler for the Rajasthan Royals.
In 2025, the Rajasthan Royals bought him for 30 lakhs and later released him without giving him a single game
He never ever gave up, and an advice which he received from Australian Captain Pat Cummins during his time in the KKR camp
In his recent interview with TOI, Ashok said:
I never thought about slowing down. I just wanted to maintain my pace and hit the right lengths. In 2022, I spent a lot of time with Pat Cummins
I spoke to him about lengths and what I could do better. He asked me a simple question: ‘What is your strength?’ Every bowler has one. Some swing it, some seam it. He asked me what I felt my strength was. I told him I could hit a hard length at a good pace. He told me to stick to that. Whenever I practise, I remember his words. They still echo in my ears.”
Ashok now has the opportunity to showcase his skillset on an international stage to race up to the bigger goal.
